Cuba, Canada and the United States remain unbeatable and Puerto Rico throws a no-hitter in the U18 World Cup Qualifier

(Press Release; WBSC AMERICAS BASEBALL).- The U18 World Cup qualifier continued this Tuesday with victories that confirm Cuba, Canada and the United States as favorites, while Puerto Rico stays alive with a no-hitter.

The rain determined that only five innings and a little more would be played in Puerto Rico versus Venezuela and only that stopped the dominant Puerto Rican pitcher Kaniel Rosado who in five innings was throwing a no-hitter, with two walks and three strikeouts, finally scoring the victory and the milestone to elevate his team to a 2-2 record.

Nicaragua took a big step forward in the classification against Mexico, also at the Rod Carew stadium in an authentic duel worthy of these events, with the definitive victory by 4 to 3. Jeyner Sánchez stood out for Nicaragua, who allowed a run in 5.1 innings with eight hits, two walks and one strikeout. Breyner Reyes scored the save by getting two outs with a strikeout.

United States remained undefeated by beating Brazil 11-1 by knockout in five innings, with Gavin Fine going 2-for-4 with a run scored and four RBIs, while Kayson Cunningham went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three driven in.

Cuba also conclusively maintained its undefeated record at the Juan Arosemena stadium by beating Guatemala 12 to 0 in five innings by knockout. Yasel Mesa, Yordan Manduley, Brian Garzon and César Morales stood out with two RBIs each.

Canada also remained undefeated, by beating the Dominican Republic in an offensive duel 17-10. Eric Hartman, Ryan Stalony and Leo Cote drove in three each.

The Dominican Republic divided in their double header by beating El Salvador 4-2, Josuar González stood out by hitting 1 for 2 with two runs scored and Freddy Guillén went 3 for 3.

With these results, Canada and Cuba remain undefeated and at the top of their group, Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic and Mexico still in the in hunt for the next round.

In the other group, the United States and Panama are playing for first place, Puerto Rico, Venezuela and Brazil will play for the two remaining spots to advance.
