(Press Release; WBSC AMERICAS BASEBALL).- The Venezuelan and Mexican teams stood up for America by
winning their respective matches corresponding to the Group Round of the
Premier12.
Venezuela
came from behind to beat Puerto Rico 5-2 and take a step and a half towards
Tokyo.
Oddanier
Mosqueda stood out on the mound by striking out six in 2.2 innings, while
Liarvis Breto took the win in relief in 1.2 innings in which he struck out
three rivals.
For
its part, Mexico achieved another victory in front of its home crowd by beating
the Netherlands by a score of 8 to 6. They started winning, then gave up the lead,
before coming from behind to secure the victory.
For
Mexico, Juan Pérez stood out, going 1 for 3 with a run scored and four RBIs, as
well as Alan Trejo, who went 1 for 3 with three RBIs.
For
its part, Cuba fell for the first time in two games it has played in Group B
played in Taipei when it was beaten by Korea 8 to 4.
Yoelkis
Guibert went 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBIs to be the most outstanding
for Cuba.
Likewise,
the Dominican Republic dropped its second game of the tournament in Asia by
falling to tournament host China Taipei 2-1, falling short in the ninth inning.
José
Devers went 1 for 4 with a run scored and starter Pedro Fernández, despite
being defeated, pitched six solid innings in which he allowed just four hits,
one run, one walk and six strikeouts.
On
Thursday the competition closes in Group A, in which the qualifiers for Japan
will be defined, only Puerto Rico is mathematically eliminated from the
tournament.
