Venezuela and the United States will compete for America in the Premier12 Super Round

(Press Release; WBSC AMERICAS BASEBALL).- The American teams qualified for the Super Round of the Premier 12 tournament to be played at the Tokyo Dome in Japan, both finally came from Group A.

Venezuela and the United States will be the representatives for America, while for Asia the Super Round Group host Japan and the country that was the host of Group B of the event, Chinese Taipei are the qualified teams.

Venezuela will face Chinese Taipei on Thursday at 12pm in Japan (Wednesday 11pm in America), while the United States will face Japan at 7pm that same Thursday (6am Thursday in America).

The teams will all face each other and the two best will go directly to the final and will compete for the gold medal and the championship, while the other two will play for the bronze medal.

It is the first time that Venezuela has managed to access the Super Round in the Premier 12 format, while the United States fell to Korea in the final of the first tournament in 2015, while in 2019 they fell in the bronze medal game against Mexico.

Venezuela and the United States seek for the first time to win the Premier 12 championship, which has until now been dominated by Asian teams and in which Japan is the great favorite for hosting the Super Round and Medal Round and for being the defending champion.

For Chinese Taipei they will send to the mound pitcher Tzu-Peng Huang against Venezuela who will have Nivaldo Rodríguez as starter, while for the United States Rich Hill will be the starter and his rival will be Hiroto Takahashi for Japan.
