Venezuela and Colombia win in their debut in the Bolivarian games in Valledupar

(Press Release; WBSC-AMERICAS).- Venezuela and Colombia shined in their debut in the Bolivarian Games by winning in Valledupar against Dominican Republic and Peru respectively.

The Dominican Republic shutout Peru in their opening game on wednesday by a 6-0 score to win their first game of the tournament behind a complete game by Samuel Burgos, who tolerated only a hit, while striking out thirteen with two walks.

Wilder Pujols took care of the offensive side of things by going 1-3 with a run scored and three driven in with homerun. Also, Randy Francisco went 2-4 with two runs scored and one driven in.

On thursday Venezuela earned their first win of the tournament by beating Dominican Republic 9-2, they practically put the game in check after scoring five in the second inning.

Juan Bidau was big offensive weapon he went 2-4 with two runs scored and four driven in. Also, José Ortega went 1-2 with one scored and another RBI for the winning team.

Colombia also won on their debut with another shutout over Peru 8-0. Scoring seven runs in the first two innings to take control of the rest of the game and sail to victory.

Randy Cuentas pitched five innings, tolerated three hits, no runs, one walk and three strikeouts for the win. Jesus Posso homered in three at bats, drove in four and scored once.

Action will continue on Friday when Peru will host Venezuela and Colombia will do the same with Dominican Republic. Wins by Venezuela and Colombia will set up and unbeaten teams duel on saturday.
