(Press Release; WBSC AMERICAS BASEBALL).- The South American U18 tournament already knows its finalists, Venezuela beat Peru in the semifinal of the tournament in the morning and in the afternoon, Brazil beat Argentina in the region's Classic.
Venezuela wasted no time in reaching its place in the final, beating the Peruvians 11 to 1, by knockout in six innings, giving them the ticket to the decisive game of the tournament.
Venezuela unleashed its artillery in the fifth and sixth innings in which they scored a total of eight runs to finally achieve the difference of ten that eventually gave them the ticket.
For Venezuela, Germain Ávila stood out on offense, going 3 for 4 with two runs scored and three RBIs, while Alejandro Díaz went 1 for 2 with a run scored and two RBIs.
On the other hand, in the afternoon and in an exciting and close game, Brazil beat Argentina 7 to 6 in the South American Classic to reach the final.
The Brazilians started winning, regained the lead in the fourth inning and withstood an important threat from Argentina in the top of the seventh inning, to ensure their place in the final.
Offensively, Dylan Dubovik was the standout for Brazil, going 3 for 4 with one run scored and three RBIs, while Artur Tsujiguchi saved the game despite receiving three hits, two earned runs and striking out two in one inning of work.
On Saturday the medals are played, in the morning the host Argentina will be the home club against Peru for third place and the bronze, in the afternoon it will be Venezuela receiving Brazil for the gold medal and the champion trophy.
