Venezuela, United States and Mexico jump ahead in the U12 World Cup qualifier

(Press Release; WBSC-AMERICAS BASEBALL).- The national teams of Venezuela, the United States and Mexico won on the opening day of the U12 World Cup qualifier in Aguascalientes, in addition to Cuba, who won by forfeit.

The Dominican Republic is already in Aguascalientes, but could not arrive in time to play their game against the Cuban team, which is why they are awarded the victory by a score of 6 to 0.

At the same time, it was Venezuela and Puerto Rico's turn to play, the world cup runners-up defeated their rivals by knockout in five innings by score 21 to 11 to start off on the right foot.

Venezuela demonstrated a devastating offense of 23 hits, seven home runs and 20 RBIs, among the most notable are Abel Granadillo who went 2-5 with two runs scored, a home run and two RBIs.

Juan Conde hit two home runs after going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBIs, while Willy Rodríguez went 5-for-5 with two runs, a home run and three RBIs.

For its part, the United States had no mercy against Brazil either, the defending world champions won 16-1 in four innings, leaving the South American team hitless.

Ryder Serna stood out for the United States by going 2-2 with two runs scored, two home runs and five RBIs. Leyland Henry also homered, going 1-for-1 with three runs and three RBIs and Nathan White-Handley went 1-for-1 with a run and three RBIs. In all, the United States hit five home runs.

Finally, in the closest duel of the day, Mexico held on to beat Panama 5-4, containing a rally in the last innings.

Gerónimo Pérez won by pitching 4.1 innings of seven hits, three earned runs, one walk and six strikeouts. The save went to Alonso Del Valle as he threw 1.2 innings with a ticket and a strikeout.

Esteban Gallardo with a solo homer in two at-bats, while José Miguel Burciaga went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
