(Press Release; WBSC-AMÉRICAS BASEBALL).- With the participation of 150 boys and girls, the third edition of the U10 Summer Championship takes place at the facilities of Club Atlético Vélez Sarsfield in Argentina.
The international club competition for under ten players years began last Thursday with the participation of ten South American teams.
Brazil is the country with the largest number of athletes in the tournament with five delegations who traveled to Buenos Aires: Anhanguera Nikkey Club, Indaiatuba Baseball, Maringa, Mogi Bunkyo Beisebol and Pinheiros Cultural and Sports Association.
On the Peruvian side, the La Unión State Association competes with two teams, the green one and the white.
The Paraguayan Baseball Federation was allowed to compete with its team nationally, while for Argentina he fights for the title with Club Halcones and the homeowner, Vélez.
The competition system consists of a regular round made up of two groups of five teams each. The two best of each of them will compete for the Cup of gold. Those teams that finish in third and fourth position will do so by Silver Cup, while the last two in each zone will seek to keep the Bronze Cup.
The international event ends on Sunday, January 21. The Summer Championship U10 began to be held in January 2020 and, after the global pandemic, resumed its competition in 2023.
With the participation of ten teams in 2024, the Vélez Sarsfield Club, together with the support of the Argentine Baseball Federation, plans to increase the number of competing teams in the continuous search to develop the sport throughout the continent.
