(Press Release; WBSC-AMERICAS).- Peru stunned Venezuela while Dominican Republic dominated against the host nation Colombia to in the continuation of the Bolivarian Games in Valledupar.
Peru surprised everyone by coming from behind to beat Venezuela 5-4 with a four spot in the fifth inning that turned the game around, and their rival was not able to come back.
Daniel Shimura was key as he went 1-3 with three runs driven in, all of them in that fifth inning. Jonathan Farias pitche the last 2.2 innings tolerating three hits, four walks, one run but getting the win for Peru.
Dominican Republic took care of the host nation by beating Colombia 11-4, they scored seven runs in the first three innings and four in the last two, they also totaled fourteen hits in the contest.
Winston López hit 1-3 with three driven in, Victor Luna went 4-3 with three scored and three driven in and Rando Moreno also went 3-4 with one scored and another driven in for Dominican Republic.
The Caribbean nation sits on top of the standings with 2-1, Venezuela and Colombia show 1-1 and Peru now sits at 1-2. On saturday the Dominican Republic will play Peru, while Venezuela will duel with Colombia.
The winner of the Colombia and Venezuela game will take second or tie for first place, depending on Peru stunning another baseball nation when the face the Dominican Republic.
