(Press Release; WBSC-AMERICAS BASEBALL).- The Pan American tournament, qualifier for the U12 World
Cup, will finally be held in Panama City.
Twelve
teams will compete in the event that will be played at the National Rod Carew
stadium and the Andy Alonso stadium, the latter made of synthetic grass, in
Panama City from October 19 to 27.
Twelve
teams will participate in total, eleven of them are looking for three places
for the World Cup of the category to be held the following year, Panama is already
automatically qualified for hosting the World Cup qualifier.
Panama
will share Group A with Mexico, the United States, Colombia, Nicaragua and
Ecuador, while Group B will be made up of Venezuela, the Dominican Republic,
Cuba, Puerto Rico, Brazil and Argentina.
Panama
successfully organized the U18 World Cup qualifier in August, so together with
WBSC Americas they once again challenge themselves to leave the best impression
of the upcoming U12 tournament.
Less
than two months separate the start of the competition from now, so the twelve nations
begin to work on their national teams for that important challenge at the end
of October.
In
the last World Cup qualifier held in Aguasclientes, Mexico, the United States
and Venezuela competed in the final, again America seeks to be among the first
three in the world as happened with these two nations in the last World Cup.
More
than 200 players are expected for this competition that features the twelve
countries seeking the position to compete among the best in the world in the
U12 category.
