(Press Release; WBSC AMERICAS BASEBALL).- The Pan American Games baseball tournament that takes place at the Bicentenario stadium in Cerrillos concluded with Group A in which Panama advances as leader, along with Mexico.
The Panamanian team back from a 2-0 deficit in the fifth and with eight runs in the last three innings guaranteed their way to the Super Round with an undefeated record.
Edgard Muñoz led the offense by going 2 for 5 with a run scored and RBI, but Luis Castillo also stood out, going 1 for 2 with a run scored and RBI, as well as Jhonny Santos going 2 for 2 with a run scored and a walk.
Meanwhile, the Dominican Republic defeated the host Chile in its last game of the tournament by a score of 12 to 2 in five innings by knockout to say goodbye with victory.
Wilder Pujols was the standout, going 2-for-3 with a run scored and three RBIs, while Sandro Fabián went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs, and Germán Mercedes also went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and one RBI.
Panama's victory allows it to advance undefeated to the Super Round, while Mexico will advance with a defeat, for its part the Dominican Republic says goodbye with a victory and Chile without victories.
