(Press Release; WBSC AMERICAS BASEBALL).- The World Baseball Classic Qualifying Rounds concluded this week in United States and Chinese Taipei respectively, with three teams from the Americas making it to the next phase.
Colombia and Brazil will accompany Venezuela for South America to the great international tournament, while Nicaragua had qualified in Chinese Taipei to represent Central America in the event alongside Panama.
The three teams from the Americas that participated in the two qualifying groups for the World Baseball Classic made it to the tournament and will play for the trophy in March 2026.
Nicaragua dominated the group that was played in Taipei, Chinese Taipei from start to finish, beating South Africa in the opening game in extra innings 2 to 1, followed by another exciting 2 to 1 victory against Spain, before shutting out Chinese Taipei in front of its home crowd 6 to 0 to advance.
Colombia did the same in the group played in Arizona, United States, winning the opening game against Brazil by a 5-0 shutout, then beating China 8-1 and finishing with a shutout and knockout of Germany 10-0 in seven innings.
For its part, Brazil earned its ticket to the decisive stage against Germany, after losing in its debut against Colombia, they beat Germany 9-7 and China 12-2 in seven innings to qualify for the decisive game, beating Germany again this time by a score of 6-4 to advance.
Colombia will play in its third consecutive World Baseball Classic, while Brazil returns to the event for the first time in more than ten years, having participated in the 2013 edition.
