Mexico and Venezuela dominate the U10 Pan American standings in Tamaulipas

(Press Release; WBSC AMERICAS BASEBALL).- The Pan American U10 that is played in Tamaulipas, Mexico reaches its final stage of the Opening Round, with Mexico and Venezuela classified for the semifinals and in control of the standings.

Mexico has not lost yet, it has a 4-0 record after beating Panama on Wednesday by score 7 to 2 to consolidate itself at the top.

For Mexico, Yael Cervantes won in relief by pitching 3.1 innings in which he allowed one hit and two walks with three strikeouts. While Nicolás Miguel received three walks, scored one and drove in two.

Venezuela remains firm in second place by beating Brazil 17 to 7 and with a 3-1 record in the tournament, its place in the semifinals is already assured with one game remaining in the Opening Round.

Rodrigo Quintero stood out by going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBIs, while Andrés Bravo scored three times and drove in a run.

For its part, Puerto Rico achieved its first victory and leveled with Brazil and the Dominican Republic with a 1-3 record by beating its counterpart of Santo Domingo 6 to 5, leaving all three in critical condition.

Dario Díaz stood out for the Puerto Ricans by going 2-for-2 with a run scored and two RBIs, while Eddiel Díaz went 1-for-3 with a run scored and another RBI.

Mexico closes against Puerto Rico and a victory would allow it to finish the Opening Round undefeated, Venezuela faces Panama that needs to win to secure its place in the next round, while Brazil closes against the Dominican Republic, these two teams and Puerto Rico does not have any leverage left, they must finish with a victory and hope that a combination of results can give them the possibility of reaching the semifinals of the tournament.
