Mexico lone leader and undefeated in the Central American Games in San Salvador

(Press Release; WBSC-AMERICAS BASEBALL).- After the games were suspended due to rain on Monday, at least three games could be played on Tuesday, leaving Mexico as the lone leader.

Curaçao beat Venezuela in the first duel of the day, which started at 2:30 pm due to the heavy rains of the previous days, the 4-3 victory allows them to fight for the lead.

The entire offense of both teams was deployed in the sixth inning, Curaçao scored four and Venezuela responded with three, but could complete the comeback to maintain their undefeated record.

For Curaçao Alexander Rodríguez came in relief and in 1.1 innings he allowed only one hit to get the save. Offensively, Roderick Bernadina went 1 for 3 with an RBI and Dudley Leonora went 2 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI.

Mexico took full advantage of Venezuela's loss to shutout Nicaragua 7-0, leaving them with two hits, not only to preserve their undefeated record, but also to take the top of the strandings by themselves.

Luis Miranda threw six scoreless innings, striking out four and giving up two hits to earn the win. Offensively, Rainel Rosario went 1-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs, Fernando Villegas went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBIs.

Puerto Rico had to battle for eight innings to walk of Cuba 5 to 4, thus achieving their first victory in the Central American Games tournament.

Jan Figueroa was victorious in relief labor by giving away a base on balls in a shutout inning of labor. Offensively, Jesmuel Valentín went 1-for-2 with a run scored and three RBIs.

The last game of the day was suspended due to rain, so four games are expected for Wednesday, starting with Puerto Rico visiting Curaçao at 11am, the rest of the games will take place consecutively 40 minutes after the previous one. Venezuela visits Nicaragua, then Dominican Republic visits Mexico, and finally the Dominican Republic receives El Salvador and then Cuba visits the hosts.
