(Press Release; WBSC AMERICAS BASEBALL).- The American teams are once again seeking to get into
the top 3 in the world, with Mexico holding off Chinese Taipei for second place
and Venezuela now fourth in the hunt for both.
The
most recent WBSC ranking revealed Chinese Taipei tying Mexico in points for
second place and Venezuela surpassing the United States in the fourth spot, all
behind leader Japan.
The
top 5 countries in the ranking are made up of three from America, with two from
Asia located in positions one and two, the American continent seeks to have two
countries in that top 3 before the end of the year.
The
U18 World Cup in Panama in October will be the next stage to score points for
the classification for the American teams, which will take place in
mid-October.
But
it is the Premier12 tournament that everyone is aiming for, it will be in
November and Mexico, Venezuela and the United States are in the same group
facing the competition that will be in Guadalajara.
Only
three teams advance to the next phase, for these three teams this will be key
for the ranking, especially with Chinese Taipei and Japan in the other group,
which will be played in Asia.
The
Premier12 is the event that distributes the most points this year in the WBSC
ranking, so it will be the biggest prize for each of these teams that will seek
to be among the best in the world.
