(Press Release; WBSC AMERICAS BASEBALL).- The Pan American U10 ended with the victory of the host Mexico in the final to lift the champion trophy and take the gold medal.
The 6-0 victory against Venezuela confirmed the host's dominance throughout the tournament in which they did not lose a single game, finishing champions with an undefeated record in the Pan American U10.
Yael Cervantes pitched to victory by throwing 4.2 scoreless innings, allowing just two hits, with one strikeout. Carlos Abarca got the save by shutting out his rival in 1.1 innings of work with one walk and two strikeouts.
Offensively, Jorge Rentería stood out, going 1 for 3 with a run scored and two RBIs, while Jesús Nuñez went 1 for 3 with a run scored.
For its part, Panama defeated the Dominican Republic 13 to 6 in the bronze medal game to finish on the tournament podium, supported by an eleven-hit attack and taking advantage of five rival errors.
Carlos Pérez went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and one RBI, while Lucas Gutiérrez went 1-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBIs. Gabriel Ledezma also stood out 3-1 with one run scored and two RBIs, as did Thiago De Grecia 3-1 with runs scored and RBIs.
The podium of the Pan American U10 in Tamaulipas is made up of Mexico as champion, runner-up Venezuela and bronze Panama.
