(Press Release).- Haiti, a country with little history in the world of baseball, aspires to participate in the 4th Caribbean Cup, based in Nassau, from December 4 to 11, despite the difficult economic, political and social situation that the country is going through.
This was stated to the COCABE media by Mr. Ernso Pierre, general manager of the Haitian Baseball Association, who explained that they are putting together a team, whose base are baseball players of Haitian descent who live in the United States and have experience in different professional circuits of the northern nation.
Haiti has been adding players born in the Dominican Republic, Canada and Cuba for some years, and who have dual nationality in order to have a team that could seek qualification for the World Classic.
Baseball players like Miguel Sanó, Domingo Germán and Jesús Sánchez have shown interest in playing in the future for the country of their origins. The well-known Lino Rivera has been the coach appointed by the Haitian Baseball Association, and its manager, Ernso Pierre.
