United States victorious, Venezuela and Dominican Republic fall in the Super Round of the U12 World Cup

(Nota de Prensa; WBSC AMÉRICAS).- La Super Ronda del Mundial U12 que se realiza en China Taipei arrancó con victoria para Estados Unidos ante Venezuela y con la caída de República Dominicana ante el anfitrión.

(Press Release; WBSC AMERICAS).- The Super Round of the U12 World Cup that takes place in Chinese Taipei began with a victory for the United States against Venezuela and with the defeat of the Dominican Republic against the host nation.

United States took advantage of an eight-run rally in the third inning and beat Venezuela 11-4 with ten hits at the start of the Super Round, in a rematch of the last U12 World Cup final.

For the United States, Tyler Early stood out, going 1-for-4 with a run scored and three RBIs, while Zaylon Johnson went 2-for-2 with a run scored and another RBI.

On the mound, Michael Ohman got the win by taking over in relief and pitching 2.1 innings in which he received one hit, with one earned run and four walks awarded.

Willy Rodríguez stood out offensively for Venezuela, who went 1-for-2 with a run scored, an RBI and a walk. Also, Alexandro Ladera went 1-for-3 with a run scored and RBI.

For its part, the Dominican Republic was unable to start strong in its debut in the Super Round, losing by shutout against host Chinese Taipei 4-0. The locals remain undefeated in the tournament.

For the Dominican Republic, only Raiyer Pérez was able to collect a hit, while on the mound, in relief work, Jairo Mejía stood out by pitching 1.2 innings, receiving only two hits.

The United States hosts Japan in their next Super Round scheduled game, while the Dominican Republic will host Venezuela in a vital duel for both teams.
