(Press Release; WBSC-AMERICAS).- The national teams of Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Panama won convincingly, while the United States resolved a closed duel and Venezuela lost its undefeated record.
Mexico needed just five innings to beat Germany by knockout by score 10-0.
José Burciaga went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, while José Camargo won by pitching five innings in which he allowed three hits, three walks with five strikeouts.
The Dominican Republic also won by knockout by connecting eighteen hits to beat New Zealand 22-3.
Jairo Mejía went 2-for-4 with a run scored and three RBIs, while Anthony Reyes went 2-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBIs and Jefferson Guzmán went 1-for-2 with two runs scored and three RBIs.
For its part, Panama had no major problems to beat the Czech Republic by score of 10 to 4.
Abdel Vigil went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBIs, while Isaac Achurra went 4-for-4 with a run scored and three RBIs.
Meanwhile, the United States resolved a close match against Korea, finally winning 5-1.
Tyler Early got the win by pitching five innings in which he gave up two hits, one earned run, four walks and nine strikeouts. While Leyland Henry went 1-for-3 with a run scored and three RBIs.
Finally, Venezuela fell in a duel for first place of the group against Chinese Taipei by a score of 4-2, a game in which they could not take advantage of four errors by the hosts.
For Venezuela, José Castillo stood out, going 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored, while Alexandro Ladera pitched 2.2 innings in relief in which he allowed one hit, two walks and struck out two.
