BASEBALL).- The United States closed the Premier12
tournament in the best way, after losing the first two games of the Super
Round, they beat Venezuela twice to take the bronze medal and be the best team
in America in the tournament.
The United States pitching led
the way to victory, Casey Lawrence dominated Venezuela and took the victory by
throwing six scoreless innings in which he allowed just four hits and struck
out seven rivals.
Carson Williams was the best
on offense by going 2-for-4 with three RBIs, Chandler Simpson also contributed
by going 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI, in addition to negotiating a
walk.
Mario Sánchez was defeated,
allowing one hit in 2.2 innings, but walking four, receiving two earned runs
and giving up one hit, with two strikeouts on his account.
The United States gave
Venezuela no respite in their last two games, scoring twelve runs in eighteen
innings, which allowed them to knock them out of the final and at the same time
beat them for the bronze medal.
For now, Venezuela took fourth
place in the Premier12 and for the first time in its history it has such an
outstanding performance in this tournament.
Chinese Taipei and Japan would
meet in the final, so for the third tournament in a row there would be an Asian
champion who until now have been the ones who have dominated this tournament.
