(Press Release; WBSC-AMERICAS BASEBALL).- The Venezuelan Baseball Federation announced last Thursday, at the headquarters of the Venezuelan Olympic Committee, the launch of the Venezuelan Baseball League 5.
The president of FEVEBEISBOL Aracelis León, announced that Ángel "Machile" Delgado, part of the Federation's Board of Directors, will be the president in charge of this first edition of the Venezuelan Baseball League 5.
Since 2018 there have been Baseball 5 activities in Venezuela, when it was the first Baseball 5 seminar in Caracas, then in 2019 in Barquisimeto regional tournaments were held in community and school games. That same year, the Venezuelan team took the runner-up spot in the first Open of the Americas in Colombia, following with the first national championship in Barquisimeto.
By 2022 Venezuela participated in the first World Cup of the category in Mexico, in which they took fourth place in the tournament.
Among the objectives set by the president of FEVEBEISBOL and WBSC Americas, Aracelis León with this Venezuelan Baseball League 5 are the organization, recreation and development of the high competition of the category with a view to attracting talents for future international championships such as Pan American and World Cup events.
"This commitment that we have at the national level must be born from its base, the parish, the municipality, the State, to reach the national level and have the best at the international level, the Federation continues to sow baseball in Venezuela," said the president of the LVB5 Ángel "Machile" Delgado.
The launch of the LVB5 was completed with a refresher course given by Francisco López, WBSC Baseball 5 official, and closed with final words from Niowaldo Zorrilla, manager of the Venezuelan team from the last World Cup in the category.
