(Press Release WBSC Americas Baseball).- Wednesday's day left four teams in the lead, the victories of Curaçao, Venezuela, and the Dominican Republic by double game, allowed the three of them to tie with Mexico at the top.
Curaçao was the first to put its record at 3-1 by walking of Puerto Rico (1-3) with a score of 3-2, coming from behind to tie the game in the fifth inning and then sentencing in the seventh.
For Curaçao, Ericson Leonora stood out offensively, batting 2-for-3 with an RBI and Roderick Bernadina who went 2-for-2 with a run scored and another RBI. Brunken Marlison scored the win with 0.2 scoreless innings of relief.
Venezuela also put its mark at 3-1 by also coming form behind against Nicaragua (1-3) with three runs in the sixth and another in the seventh to win 4-1.
For Venezuela five pitchers prevented earned runs in the game, the victory went to Wuilder Rodríguez who pitched a shutout in two innings and the save is the third for Eduardo Paredes who pitched a shutout inning with a walk.
For its part, the Dominican Republic first defeated Mexico 6-2, causing the Central Americans to fall to a 3-1 record, taking advantage of a five-scoring rally in the second inning.
Adrián Valerio homered with the bases loaded, in total he went 1-for-3 with a run scored and four RBIs, while Wilder Pujols went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
In the last game of the day, the Dominican Republic repeated the score, this time against El Salvador (0-3), the 6-2 victory allowed them to reach 3-1 and tie the lead, taking advantage of a four-run rally in the fifth.
Offensively for the Dominican, Luis Valenzuela stood out, hitting 1-for-3 with a run scored and two RBIs, while Seully Matías went 1-for-3, also with two RBIs.
The last duel of the day scheduled to take place between El Salvador and Cuba had to be suspended due to rain.
These results leave Curaçao, Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Venezuela all tied for the lead with a 3-1 record.
On Thursday it is expected to carry out a day of five games, starting with Cuba visiting El Salvador at 10am, the rest of the games will take place 40 minutes after the previous one ended. The day would continue with Cuba visiting the Dominican Republic. Then Mexico visits Puerto Rico and the day closes with Curaçao visiting Nicaragua and Venezuela home club against El Salvador.
