Cuba and Mexico dominate in their debut at the Baseball5 World Cup in Hong Kong

(Press Release; WBSC-AMERICAS BASEBALL).- The countries of America started strong in the II World Cup of Baseball5 that takes place in Hong Kong, with two victories for Cuba and Mexico respectively.

Cuba took its title as defending champion very serious by beating Lithuania 18 to 2 and 11 to 2 in two sets in its debut. That followed by another victory in two sets 10 to 0 and 9 to 1 against South Africa.

Meanwhile, the young Mexican squad showed that they have plenty of talent by beating Australia in two sets with results of 4 to 0 and 6 to 1. Followed by a another victory in two sets against Tunisia by a score of 5 to 4 and 17 to 7 respectively.

While the champion and runner-up of the Barquisimeto, Venezuela Pan American Championship got off to a strong start, the bronze medalist of the American tournament was not far behind, Venezuela also won its first game.

Venezuela's debut was against Chinese Taipei, it took three sets for the Venezuelans to win, falling in the first 6 to 5, but then overcoming the deficit winning 2 to 0 and 12 to 3.

The American teams get off to a good start in the competition in Hong Kong this weekend, they hope to continue adding to qualify for the next round and seek to get on the podium that in the last tournament in Mexico only the Cuban team could achieve.
