(Press Release; WBSC AMERICAS BASEBALL).- The American teams went through a bittersweet day in
Group B held in Taipei, while Cuba obtained its first victory, the Dominican
Republic let its game slip away against Korea.
Cuba
was able to win its first game of the tournament by beating Australia 4-3,
making a three-run rally in the third inning count until the end that
ultimately made the difference.
Yadir
Drake was among the standouts, going 2-for-2 with three RBIs, one run scored
and two walks. While Roel Santos went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
Korea
beat the Dominican Republic 9 to 6, the Asians scored four in the sixth and
five in the eighth to turn a score that until that moment was 6 to 0.
Arismendy
Alcántara went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBIs, while Alen Hanson
went 3-for-5 with two RBIs, to be among the most outstanding for the Dominican
Republic.
The
latest results have left out the Dominican Republic, which after starting with
a victory against Cuba, was unable to beat the other three rivals it has faced.
While Cuba with a 1-2 record rescued its chances of qualifying for the Super
Round of the tournament.
