(Press Release; WBSC-AMERICAS BASEBALL).- The countries of America culminated the competition with
Cuba defending its crown as champion of the category in a convincing manner.
Cuba
dominated the final against Japan, winning in two sets by partial scores 16 to
1 and 7 to 5 to raise their arms in triumph and take the second World Cup in
the category to their country, adding to the one they won in Mexico in the
first edition.
Briandy
Molina and Haila González were voted the Most Valuable Players of the
tournament, after the performance that led them to catapult Cuba to the top of
the World of Baseball5.
For
its part, Venezuela was once again on the verge of the podium, falling in the
bronze medal game against France in two sets, partials of 3 to 1 and 7 to 2
gave the Europeans the medal.
Mexico
had reached the Super Round, but the Pan American runner-up in the discipline
could not get into the Medal Round, saying goodbye to the tournament before the
decisive phase.
However,
the American teams demonstrated once again that in the Baseball5 discipline
they are among the best in the world, with Cuba carrying the flag as the best
of all.
The
All-Star team of the tournament had members from America, the captain of
Venezuela Humberto Molina, along with Yeismy Sánchez from Mexico, stood out
among all those present.
Both
