Colombia gives Brazil a pass to the final and the Dominican Republic finishes fifth

(Press Release; WBSC AMERICAS BASEBALL).- The baseball tournament of the Pan American Games that takes place at the Bicentenario stadium in Cerrillos continued its decisive phase with a resounding victory for Colombia 10 to 2 against Mexico that allowed Brazil to reach the final.

Colombia relied on Carlos Martínez who went 3-for-4 with twlo runs scored and two RBIs, while Carlos Arroyo contributed with two other runs scored by going 2-for-4.

The victory allows Brazil to reach the final directly, while Panama and Colombia play for the other spot in the duel they will have this Friday at the end of the Super Round.

Also in the Placement Round action, the Dominican Republic beat Cuba 5 to 4, allowing them to remain in fifth place in the tournament.

The Dominican Republic walked of Cuba by scoring two runs in the final inning, Deivi Muñoz contributed by going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and one RBI, while Elier Hernández went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

The Super Round concludes this Friday with the duels between Colombia and Panama and Mexico against Brazil, to define the other finalist and the teams that will play for the bronze medal.
