(Press Release; WBSC AMERICAS BASEBALL).- The
baseball tournament of the Pan American Games that takes place at the
Bicentenario of Cerrillos stadium in Santiago, Chile concluded with victories
for Colombia and Mexico, which allows them to reach the podium.
Mexico sentenced Panama 10 to
2 with six runs in the fourth inning to win the bronze medal.
Jasson Atondo excelled by
going 5-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBIs to guide Mexico on offense,
Fernando Flores also contributed by going 2-for-4 with runs scored and two
RBIs.
For its part, Colombia beat
Brazil 9 to 1, scoring runs in almost every inning to take the gold medal and
leave the Amazonians with the silver.
Dilson Herrera was the best on
offense, going 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs, while Carlos Arroyo went
2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs.
For Colombia it is the first
Pan American championship in its history, for Brazil its first silver medal and
together with Mexico they make up the podium of this edition of the games.
