Panama will host thirteen other countries that will participate in the Pan
American U18 tournament, a qualifier for the World Cup of the category that starts
on August 2.
Fourteen teams will be competing
for three spots to be in the World Cup and accompany Panama, as the
representatives of America in one of the most even categories that this sport
has.
Panama will participate in the
tournament, but it has already qualified for the World Cup in the category by
hosting the qualifier tournament, so the other thirteen participating countries
will be competing for those three available spots.
Group A is made up of Mexico,
Cuba, Dominican Republic, Canada, Nicaragua, El Salvador and Guatemala. While
in Group B the participants are United States, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Brazil,
Curacao, Costa Rica and the host Panama.
The action begins on August 2
at the Rod Carew stadium at 10am (local time) Brazil will be visitor against
Venezuela, while, at the same time, but at the Juan Arosemena stadium Nicaragua
visits Cuba.
At 1pm the third game of the
day is scheduled at the stadium in Juan Salinas, with El Salvador visiting
Mexico.
At 2pm, Canada will visit the
Dominican Republic at the Rod Carew, while, at the same time, but at the Juan
Arosemena, Curacao will be facing the United States.
The action closes at 8pm when
host Panama faces Puerto Rico at home, this game will be after the Opening
Ceremony.
Guatemala will have its first
game of the tournament on August 3 as host against Mexico at 10am at the Juan
Arosemena stadium, while Costa Rica debuts that same day, in the same stadium
at 2:30pm as host against the United States.
More than 200 players will be
competing in one of the most even categories in the sport, looking for one of
those three sought-after passes to the World Cup in the category and continue
adding points to the WBSC ranking.
