(Press Release; WBSC-AMÉRICAS BASEBALL).- The
U15 Pan American Championship is ready to go this Saturday and twelve nations
will compete for five spots in the U15 World Cup.
The tournament will be played
in Boca Chica, Dominican Republic starting this Saturday, March 16. On the 21st
of the month, the five World Cup qualifiers will be known and the medal games
will be played.
The first three teams in each
group will qualify for the Final Round of the tournament on Thursday, March 21,
in which the third placed teams in each group will play for fifth spot in the
World Cup, the second placed teams for the bronze medal and the first two teams
in each group will play for the trophy and gold medal.
Group A will be headed by
Brazil and Argentina representing CONSUBE, Panama and Mexico for CONCEBE and
Bahamas along with the host Dominican Republic representing COCABE.
While in Group B there will be
Venezuela and Peru for CONSUBE, as well as Puerto Rico and Cuba for COCABE,
along with Nicaragua for CONCEBE, also a team from the WBSC (Guatemala)
complete the group.
The U15 World Cup calendar has
six games scheduled per day starting on Saturday at 10am the WBSC team will visit
Venezuela in stadium 1, Bahamas visiting Mexico in stadium 2, Peru visiting
Cuba in stadium 3 and Nicaragua against Puerto Rico in Stadium 4.
On the same day, but starting
at 2pm, Argentina visits the Dominican Republic in stadium 1 and Brazil visits
Panama in stadium 2 to close the first day of play.
A total of 33 games will be played
in the event, twelve nations competing for five places in the U15 World Cup and
three that will stand on the medals podium, only one can be champion of the Pan
American U-15 tournament in Boca Chica, Dominican Republic.
