(Press Release; WBSC AMÉRICAS BASEBOL).- The baseball tournament of the Pan American Games that takes place at the Bicentenario stadium in Cerrillos has reached its decisive phase and Brazil continues with the best pace by beating Panama to preserve its undefeated record.
Brazil became came alive at the end of the game and also erased a comeback attempt by Panama to finally win by score 5 to 3 and remain undefeated in the tournament.
Osvaldo Carvalho became the hero by hitting a pinch-hit double in the seventh inning that brought three to the plate and allowed Brazil to eventually break a 1-1 tie and go up 5-1.
Panama scored two in the bottom of the inning and left the tying run on base, Brazil's victory allows them to remain undefeated and at the same time end Panama's unbeaten record.
Meanwhile, in the morning, Venezuela said goodbye to the tournament, beating Chile 7 to 0 and thus managed to finish seventh in the tournament.
