Argentina versus Brazil in a classic South American duel in the finals

(Press Release; WBSC-AMERICAS).- Argentina and Brazil is and old south american rivalry in any sport, but baseball takes center stage this time, as they will meet in the finals in Lima.

Brazil shoutout Ecuador 7-0 while Argentina beat host nation Perú by a narrow score of 3-2, both qualifying for the finals, while Perú and Ecuador will meet for the bronze.

Brazil had complete control of their semifinals game by not only shutting out Ecuador 7-0, but by recording a no hitter in the process to earn the first spot in the finals.

Marcelo Kaneo was brilliant in seven innings, allowing no hits or runs, with no walks and striking out six to earn the victory.

Offensively Pedro Okude hit 2-4 with a run scored and also Felipe Augusto went 2-4 with a run scored and another driven in. Marcio Issao hit 2-3 with two driven in and one scored. Finally, Jean Tomé hit 2-3 with a run.

Argentina edged out host nation Perú by a narrow 4-3 score in a duel that neither team could take advantage. Finally, a run in the sixth inning would give the argentinians the victory.

Federico Robles would earn the victory by pitching 6.1 innings allowing six hits and two earned runs with two walks and six strikeouts.

Exequiel Talevi went 3-3 with a run batted in, Lucas Nakandakae also hit 3-3 with a run batted in and Agustin Tissea went 0-2 but scored one and drove in one for Argentina.

Argentina and Brazil will meet in the finals on Saturday, before the South American classic, Peru and Ecuador will play for bronze.
