(Press Release; WBSC-AMERICAS-BASEBALL).- The Pan American Qualifying tournament for the Santiago 2023 Games will be held in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina, with six teams competing for a place in the maximum event.
The Qualifying tournament will take place between June 16 and 21 with the participation of six teams, Argentina as the host, as well as Aruba, Canada, Honduras, Panama and Peru.
Those six nations will seek one spot for the Pan American event to be held in Santiago, Chile, in which eight teams will be competing to be the best in that tournament.
The host country, Chile, has already qualified for Santiago, as well as Colombia for being the winner of the Junior Pan American Games, as well as Brazil as South American champion last year.
Another five spots are available, three of them will be for the teams that make up the podium in the Central American Games, the medal winners will be guaranteeing their spots in Santiago.
The other two places are distributed, one for the winner of the Qualifying Tournament to be held in Argentina and the other place for the best-ranked team in America according to WBSC.
Argentina, as the host, will look for the opportunity of taking advantage by the Qualifier to be held in Buenos Aires, but will have important rivals such as Panama, Canada and Honduras, without forgetting Aruba, which has a long history in the sport, and Peru, which continues to take firm steps to get into the mix of being the best in South America in baseball.
