(Press Release; WBSC AMÉRICAS BASEBALL).- The
XIX South American Baseball Championship culminated with Argentina taking the
champion trophy by beating Brazil 2 to 1 in a final that became an instant
classic of the sport.
Argentina came back with two
runs in the seventh inning to beat Brazil 2-1 and win the trophy.
Lucas Ramón left without a
decision but in 5.1 innings he allowed three hits, one unearned run, walked one
and struck out five opponents. Kevin Bello pitched a scoreless inning to secure
the save.
Jacinto Cipriota´s hit walked
of Brazil, by going 1 for 4 with two RBIs. A run scored by José Gerez and
Sebastián García respectively.
For its part, Chile gave no
respite to host Peru and scored six runs in the first three innings to finally
triumph by a score of 6 to 1 and take the bronze medal.
Diego Beluzarán went 2-for-4
with two runs scored and two RBIs to be among the most outstanding, Sebastián
Vargas worked six innings in which he allowed three hits and one earned run to
secure the victory.
Argentina, Brazil and Chile complete
the podium of the XIX South American Baseball that took place in Lima, WBSC Americas
and CONSUBE continue to work so that baseball continues to grow in the South of
the continent and that it continues to show why it is Americas game.
