(Press Release; WBSC AMERICAS BASEBALL).- Albert Pujols, legend of the Dominican Republic and Major League Baseball, was announced by the general manager of the national team Nelson Cruz as the manager for the upcoming edition of the 2026 World Baseball Classic.
Through a FEDOM press release written by Katiusca Parra, it was announced that the election was unanimous through the committee made up of great baseball legends.
The committee is headed by Juan Marichal, but is also made up of iconic figures from Dominican and world baseball such as Vladimir Guerrero, Pedro Martínez, Adrián Beltré, David Ortiz and Edwin Encarnación.
General manager Nelson Curz praised what he described as a wise decision by the committee, while calling for the support of all the Dominican people ahead of the important event in 2026.
For his part, Albert Pujols expressed his enthusiasm for taking on the challenge and highlighted the pride he feels in leading the team in such an important event as the World Baseball Classic.
The press release issued by FEDOM also highlights the beginning of the path to the 2026 World Baseball Classic with this decision to name Albert Pujols. The manager of the team for the event indicated that the work of forming a highly competitive team that can compete and fight to achieve the title already achieved in the 2013 edition will begin now, in this 2026 World Baseball Classic that marks the 20th anniversary of the event.
