(Press Release).- The Bahamas National Baseball Team defeated its counterpart from the Virgin Islands tonight, by a score of 4 runs to 3.
Bahamas (1-0), who are participating for the first time in the Caribbean Cups organized by the Caribbean Confederation, achieved their first victory against an improved and balanced team from the Virgin Islands.
Bahamas scored 1 in the second, 2 in the seventh, and 1 in the eighth. The offense was in charge of Ellison Hanna who batted 3-1, with 1 run scored and 1 RBI, Kristin Muneore 2-0 with 2 walks and 1 run scored, and Keithron Moss 1-0 with 1 walk and 1 scored.
The winning pitcher was Evan Sweeting (1-0), who earned the win in relief after pitching 1 complete scoreless inning.
For Virgin Islands, the losing pitcher was Tahu Cunningham (0-1), who pitched in 0.1 innings allowing the go-ahead run in the bottom of the 8th inning.
On offense by the Virgin Islands, the best were Rafael Jackson III 4-1 with 1 walk and 1 scored, Jahmoi Persoval 5-1, with 1 scored, Kelani Luke 4-1 with 1 scored.
For tomorrow, Monday, December 5, starting at 2:00, Cuba (0-0) will face Virgin Islands (0-1) and second hour Bahamas (1-0) will face Curacao (1-0) in undefeated duel
The 4th Caribbean Baseball Cup is organized by the Caribbean Baseball Confederation COCABE, with the local organization of the Bahamas Baseball Association.
