Panama and Brazil victorious in their debut at the Pan American Games in Chile

(Press Release; WBSC AMERICAS BASEBALL).- The Pan American Games baseball tournament continued on Thursday with victories for Panama and Brazil in their debut in the games. First thing in the morning, the Panama team beat the Dominican Republic 4 to 1 in a close duel, the same thing happened with Brazil who beat Venezuela 3 to 1.

Panama ambushed the Dominican Republic in the sixth with three runs that ended up being definitive, in addition to the pitchers that kept their rival at bay.

Jhonny Santos was the offensive standout for Panama, going 1-for-3 with two RBIs in that third inning that ended up being vital. While Harol Arauz pitched two scoreless innings for the victory and Severino González pitched the last inning without runs to get the save.

For its part, Brazil relied on its pitchers to beat Venezuela 3 to 1, taking advantage of the rival's errors to score its first victory of the tournament.

Brazil capitalized on three errors by its rival, and scored three runs in the second inning (only one earned), only Pedro Silva was credited with a RBI in three at-bats.

But it was the pitching that really put the Amazon team on track. Felipe Natel started and won by allowing only five hits, one earned run, with two strikeouts and two walks in four innings. While Oscar Nakaoshi saved the game by throwing three innings, with three strikeouts, one walk, no hits, no runs.
