Press release.- La Confederación del Caribe de Béisbol (COCABE) junto a la Federación de Puerto Rico de esta disciplina, siguen trabajando con la mirada puesta en la 5ta Copa del Caribe, prevista del 1 al 8 de octubre en suelo boricua.
The Caribbean Baseball Confederation (COCABE) together with the Puerto Rican Federation of this discipline, continue to work with their sights set on the 5th Caribbean Cup, scheduled from October 1st to 8th, on Puerto Rico.
So far, 4 teams have confirmed their attendance at the tournament, which will serve as a prelude for the teams that have qualified for the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games.
Once again, US Virgin Islands with Mr. Dennis Brow is present, as it is Curaçao, the 3rd Cup champions and bronze medal last year. Cuba, silver in 2021 and 2022, will now gather a team with at least 18 of the players who were in the IV World Baseball Classic.
Puerto Rico, the host country, could participate with young players, in order to try to retain the crown won last year in the Bahamas. Undoubtedly, it will be the great absentee in Chile, where it will not be able to defend the Lima 2019 title.
The confirmation of a guest from South America, Peru; the Bahamas and the Dominican Republic is still awaited. The latter will be at the multi-sport event of our continent, from October 20 to November 5.
Both Mr. George Delira, COCABE president and Dr. José Quiles, president of FBPR, are confident that the 5th Caribbean Cup will be a better event, in which the quality of Caribbean baseball will be demonstrated once again.
