(Press Release; WBSC AMERICAS BASEBALL).- The Pan American U10 Championship that takes place in Tamaulipas, Mexico has their protagonists for the semifinals: Mexico will host the Dominican Republic and Venezuela will be a visitor against Panama. Brazil will also face Puerto Rico in the game for fifth place in the tournament.
The Dominican Republic's 14-6 victory against Brazil eventually allowed them to be in the semifinals, catapulted by a twelve-run rally in the fourth inning.
Wilmer Rodríguez stood out by batting 3-for-5 with two runs scored and four RBIs, while Yemmy Marrero went 2-for-4 with one run scored and two RBIs.
Panama dominated Venezuela and beat them 9-0 to secure their place in the semifinal and secure homeclub for their semifinals rematch against the South American team.
Three relievers combined for the shutout, with Luis Urriola being the winner by pitching two innings in which he allowed just one hit, with a walk and a couple of strikeouts.
Mexico finished the Opening Round of the Pan American undefeated by defeating Puerto Rico 12 to 6 and leaving them eliminated.
Jorge Renteria stood out, batting 1 for 2 with a run scored and two RBIs, while Luis Vidal went 1 for 2 with two runs scored and two RBIs, in addition to three walks.
The semifinals will be played by Panama, which will host Venezuela, and the host of the tournament, Mexico, will be homeclub aginst the Dominican Republic. Before that it will be Puerto Rico against Brazil for fifth place, all matches at the Liga Teviño Kelly stadium, Reynosa.
