México aguerrido, Nicaragua por la mínima y Estados Unidos imbatible

(Press Release; WBSC AMERICAS).- The Super Round of the World Cup U18 Qualifier that takes place in Baja California Sur in Mexico started with three close and emotional duels.

The hosts Mexico completed a spectacular nine-run comeback in the top of the seventh inning to turn the tables on Venezuela and win 13-10.

Mexico benefited from Santiago Contreras' offense he went 2-for-5 with a run scored and three RBIs. Meanwhile, Sergio Gastelum went 2 for 3 with two runs scored and an RBI.

For their part, Nicaragua scored two runs in the first inning and their pitching held up against Puerto Rico for the rest of the game to win 2-1 in their debut in the Super Round.

For Nicaragua, Derek Losaiga stood out in offense, going 1 for 3 to drive in the two runs for his team. On the mound, Francisco Robleto stood out and won in a dominant manner, pitching seven innings in which he allowed one unearned run, with one walk, tolerated six hits and struck out nine.

The United States did the same against Panama, scoring five runs in the first inning and then limiting their rival to a 5-2 victory that keeps them undefeated in the tournament.

For the United States, four pitchers combined to lead the victory that was finally appointed to reliver Vaughn Neckar, who received no hits or runs in two innings despite three walks and striking out three. Offensively Macon Winslow went 2-for-2 with two RBIs.

Finally, in the Placement Round, Canada defeated Peru in five innings by knockout, 14-1.

Offensively, Myles Naylor stood out, going 3 for 3 with four runs scored and five RBIs. Ty Hamilton went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and Ty Doucette went 2-for-2 with a run scored and three RBIs.
