(Press Release; WBSC-AMERICAS).- Group stage of the South American Baseball tournament has come to an end, Ecuador will take on Brazil and Peru faces Argentina in the semifinals, Bolivia is eliminated.
Argentina ended with 4-0 after beating Brazil on thursday, the Amazonians dropped to 3-1, meanwhile Ecuador finished 2-2 after defeating Bolivia, Peru ended with 1-3 and Bolivia goes home with no victories (0-4).
Ecuador beat Bolivia 11-2 by scoring on three run rallies´s on three different innings to top Peru in the standings of the groups stage.
Braulio Baque won the game by pitching 5.1 innings with two runs and five hits, with four walks and four strikeouts.
Offensively Samuel Felman went 2-3 with two runs scored and four driven in, Johan León went 3-4 with two runs scored and three runs batted in and Carlos Rodríguez went 2-3 with two runs scored.
Meanwhile in duel of unbeaten teams, Argentina topped Brazil by a 9-5 score in a game they had in control since the first inning.
Franco Perez won the game by pitching 5.1 with nine hits, three runs and two walks with three strikeouts.
On the offense, Pedro Figueras hit 3-5 with two runs and two driven in, Jacinto Cipriota hit 2-2 with a run scored and two runs driven in, and Sebastian Fontana went 1-3 with two runs scored.
On friday Ecuador will visit Brazil in the first semifinal and Argentina will host Peru in the second one, winners will play for the gold medal and the championship, the losers will play for bronze.
