Cuba defeats Curacao

(Press Release).- In the framework of the long-awaited confrontation between the Champion and Runner-up of the last edition of the Caribbean Cup, the Cuban team (Runner-up), defeated the current champions Curaçao 8 races by 7.

Cuba (3-1) managed to score 2 in the first, 2 in the third, 2 in the fifth, 1 in the sixth and 1 in the seventh; while Curacao (2-2) scored 2 in the second and 5 in the third.

The winning pitcher for Cuba was Franky Quintana (1-0) who in relief pitched 2.2 scoreless innings and the save went to Yeudi Reyes (1).

The best at bats for Cuba were Yoelkis Gilbert 5-3 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBIs, Luis Mateo 3-2 with 2 runs scored, 1 RBIs and 2 walks, Alexquemer Sánchez 3-2 with 1 runs scored and 2 bases by balls and Guillermo Avilés 4-1 with 1 scored and 1 towed.

Djenior Mogen (0-1) lost after allowing 2 runs (3 total) in 2.2 innings of 3 hits and 2 walks.

With this result, Curaçao is in third place and Cuba awaits the result of Puerto Rico and Bahamas, for its placement in the semifinal that begins this coming Saturday, December 10.
